Overview
Crafted Contemporary in Natural Tones
Meadows_11 is a 3500 sq.ft residential bungalow in Ahmedabad designed across three floors, balancing compact urban footprint with generous vertical living. The project emphasizes wood as primary material language, creating warmth and craft continuity from entry to private spaces while maximizing natural light through strategic openings and double-height volumes.
How to create spacious family living within a narrow, vertical urban plot?
Multi-story bungalows on compact sites often feel compartmentalized and disconnected—staircases dominate circulation, rooms feel isolated across floors, and natural light struggles to reach interior zones. At 3500 sq.ft spread vertically, the challenge was maintaining visual and material coherence across three levels while ensuring each floor felt connected to the whole, not like stacked apartments. The design needed to accommodate living, dining, kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and outdoor connection without sacrificing flow or light.
Solution
The design employs wood as unifying element: teak cladding, slatted screens, and custom furniture create material consistency across floors. Wooden staircases with integrated storage maximize utility while maintaining visual warmth. Strategic windows and skylights ensure natural light reaches interior zones. Outdoor landscaping and ground-level greenery establish connection to nature. Wooden slatted partitions define zones while maintaining visual flow between spaces. White walls provide clean backdrop, allowing rich wood tones to dominate. Custom shelving and media units combine display and storage. Bedrooms employ wood paneling as headboard features and wardrobes. The result is a bungalow balancing vertical compactness with warmth—where wood craftsmanship creates cohesive living across three floors.
